Plant Supervisor


The Plant Supervisor assists the Plant Manager in the management of operations to achieve optimum utilization of assets and personnel. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by enforcing the company s safety policies and procedures, MSHA, OSHA and other regulations. The plant supervisor may be responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of employees and providing oversight for safety, quality control, plant optimization and preventative maintenance.

Essential Functions

1. Individual supervises activities of hourly production and maintenance employees;

2. Individual screens and hires hourly production and maintenance employees;

3. Schedules production requirements to support daily, weekly and monthly sales forecast to meet customer s needs;

4. Individual provides coaching and disciplinary counseling to employees under his or her area of responsibility (includes employee relations and administration of collective bargaining agreements);

5. Ensures that employee receives proper training and instructions to perform job duties;

6. Schedule and assign employee s work based on production needs (manpower planning) ;

7. Administers and enforces Company and Area policies and procedures;

8. Ensures that the plant meets all SHE policies and practices at the site location;

9. Works with SHE Department and Company officials to promote a safe work environment that meets all State and Federal rules and regulations;

10. Works closely with salespeople and customers to ensure that products meet customer needs and expectations (to include customer visits);

11. Responsible for ensuring that the site meets or exceeds operating budget;

12. Works on the implementation of cost saving programs and/or continuous improvement activities to reduce costs and improve operating efficiency;

13. Participates in Operations short and long range business planning; and

14. Attends daily production meetings on the daily running and operations of the plant.

Other duties may be assigned as required.


Education, Experience, Licenses, Certifications & Skills Required


High School Diploma required

BS / BA degree in Liberal Arts, Business, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience is preferred.


A minimum of 2 years prior work experience in supervising production employees preferably in the aggreagers industry or parallel industries.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge and understanding of modern principles and practices of supervising production employees; knowledge and understanding of an aggregate plant operation; able to understand, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; knowledge and understanding of OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations; able to motivate and reward employees; able to develop and establish performance measurements for department; good organization and business planning skills; excellent problem solving skills and practices; good computer skills; able to analyze and solve business problems; able to establish practices and develop resources to meet or exceed goals and objectives. Must represent VMC in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel. Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as leadership and teambuilding skills. Ability to work well without direct supervision.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
